They'll claim certain oddities like this are expected because it's "beta" but really they've been building on the same code for nearly 20 years now so what the fuck is the excuse?

Injuries and the player faces on newgans. Everybody looks like they have impetigo.

Like, during testing did not one person say "hey, there is a fuck load of injuries, like there is EVERY year, and the newgans look fucking stupid".

EDIT: If you are eating sugar puffs for breakfast, do not google impetigo.

They're just pretty incompetent I reckon given the size of the company. I still play CM01/02 and someone on the forum asked SI if they would release the source code now it's freeware but they said they couldn't because they still use portions of it on the FM Mobile version. :cab:

If some wizard could edit 01/02 so the regens were newgens instead, it’d be amazing.

Maybe add right-click while you’re at it, but that’s not as important.

You can get a very good regen facepack thing these days. It'll randomly generate your regen a pretty real looking face based on their nationality.

Something weird has happened in my game.

We were £53m in debt (£51m of it was payable when we got into the Bundesliga) and I bought someone for far too much money with most of it on instalments.

I then went to the debt page to see exactly how much we now owed and the £51m loan is no longer there.

We had elections not long ago and a new guy came in, maybe he paid it off but I don't remember seeing a news item about it.

1860 Munich 2024/25 season update:

Transfers Out:

https://i.imgur.com/TzwCWpj.png

Cleared out some crap from the team who were going to be backups at best.

Transfers In:

https://i.imgur.com/zMgTlid.png
https://i.imgur.com/5HoiYN0.png

Busy Summer for me. A lot of the loanees were just free backups from my parent club. Here are the ones that joined on permanent deals:

https://i.imgur.com/56hB3Hr.png

Needed numbers at CDM and I had hoped this guy would be my starting BWM, he was for a bit but just didn't cut the mustard.

https://i.imgur.com/gHSoWxJ.png

Originally planned to bring him in as a backup but my starting keeper wanted out (for £400k) and I couldn't find anyone to be the new starter. Broken his arm twice...

https://i.imgur.com/s4aDO1F.png

£250k is a steal for this lad I feel. I didn't give him as many minutes as I should have but he played well when I did. At worst I think I'll make some decent cash from him.

https://i.imgur.com/6kGBbZb.png

He was on loan last year and our starting CDM and he was pretty good. I had to bring him in on free and whilst he did start at CDM for us for a while I ended up moving him to AML due to injuries and he turned into a demi-God. Managed to give him a new contract mid-season to remove his release clause too.

https://i.imgur.com/hhjWKpv.png

Almost didn't sign him but I took the plunge for £90k and he was our best player for a while. He then got injuries and got usurped as our starting AML by Hasa. Hasn't looked the same since.

https://i.imgur.com/th7tGhZ.png

Got him on a free early in the Summer but he didn't join until January because Irish contracts. I had him pegged as our starting AMC but by the time he got here he was 4th or 5th choice. I will be looking to sell him.

https://i.imgur.com/yBqpscN.png

Our record signing. When my keeper got injured I panicked and bought him. £300k upfront with £4m in instalments. Hefty price tag but he's Polish and was on a Wonderkids list I found...

League:

https://i.imgur.com/gGG83mV.png

https://i.imgur.com/EOBnwWr.png
https://i.imgur.com/hEfmofM.png

We had a couple of wobbles but we were brilliant.

DFB Pokal:

For some reason we weren't in it...

Squad:

https://i.imgur.com/PxoRddK.png

Our two main AML's throughout the season being our joint top scorers is pretty cool. Our strikers being a bit meh, less so.

Not sure how good we're going to be in the Bundesliga 2 but I think we'll be good.

Did you offer him out to start with?

Nope.
He's been wanted all season. Come the end of the season I asked intermediaries but they only came back with around £90-£100m, so u said no. Next day spoke to his agent and his came back with something like £85m, again I said it's not enough, forget about it. Few days later all those bids just popped in my inbox. Oh I also spoke to the media whenever they asked and confirmed he could leave at the right price.

3-6 weeks out for my starting AMC, 4-5 weeks out for my starting RB and 5-6 for my starting keeper.

Note the time my keeper got injured, the 73rd minute. Guess what I did in the 71st? That's right, I used my last sub so a CB (who was playing at RB due to the injuries) went into goal and he did not do well.

Every bug and problem that was in 'early access' is still there.

You can literally put your highest determination, best personality player to welcome any signing to the club and within a month they will have the same personality and determination. I tested it making a 20 Det Model Citizen. A youth signing with 13 Det and Resolute became 20 Det and Model Citizen.

People on Reddit mass reporting SI for false advertising over the J-League not being fully licensed in FM24 as promised is pretty funny, if a bit pointless.

Its not really. Every game dev gets hauled over the coals for missing features that have been promised, its standard. A lot of people were looking forward to managing these.

SI need calling out in their tedious bullshit, it's been the same for years. There's literally a bug right now where AI won't make substitutions, or if they do it's right at the end of a match. So injuries come flying in if you Instant Result or whatever. Opposition teams knackered making the game way easier as the fuckers barely rotate etc. In my save City bought 13 defenders across 4 transfer windows. They had three midfielders and one winger. Four world class strikers in total but they just played Haaland every minute of every match. AI squad building improvements was a headline feature.

Its a broken fucking mess if you so much as look under the surface, but we all keep buying it at the end of the day. There's nothing else that does what it does. Complacency is a bitch

I just started a save on the mobile version with Sunderland. I sold Jack Clarke for £23million and Alex Pritchard for £2.2million as we already had enough players in central midfield. I loaned out Chris Rigg to give him plenty of playing time. My Clarke replacement didn't get a work permit so I had to bring in a couple of youngsters on loan to fill the Clarke void.

I was unbeaten in league and cup for quite a while but got beat at Stoke. They played 3 at the back, wing backs, two B2B midfielders, an advanced playmaker at AMC and two strikers. I'm now tempted to try this formation on another save.

Already lost one player cos he was on a ‘non-contract’ and chose someone else over me, so now I’ve got Andre “5 star current/5 star potential” Wisdom refusing to sign an actual contract looming over me. The save will take a serious nosedive when he sods off.

Having played as Wrexham in the previous version, I was looking for something similar but different so Notts County was my team of choice. Until I watched season 2 of Welcome to Wrexham, that is, and became familiar with the history of Dorking Wanderers. I think the club's (short) history makes them perfect for a zero-to-hero sort of save so it was kind of a no-brainer really.

The club was expected to finish 21st, yet the board were gunning for a play-off finish. Fair play I thought, the difference in class shouldn't be that big and if you're not aiming to continue on earning promotion after promotion, what are you doing? The money wasn't there to make any changes, the squad was bloated and there were more pre-arranged signings coming in the future, so I made a grand total of 0 moves in either of the transfer windows. I let some players go, but that was about it.

When we were on fire, we were really on fire. Sadly that didn't happen all that often, leading to a very inconsistent form. I went with a rather attacking tactic, which resulted in us being the league's highest scoring team, but that came with a downside. And that downside was a very poor defensive record (6th worst in the league). That wasn't only down to tactics though. At least not down to our approach. Our defenders were all fairly garbage, with the best of the lot being of "Leading Vanarama North/South" level, and an average of 38 years old. On top of that, a decent if inconsistent goalkeeper who got injured quite a bit and left us with the subpar understudy for a long period of time (missed 3.5 months through 3 separate injuries). And to add salt to injury, defending a set piece seems to be like rocket science for our bunch of donkeys. 22 goals conceded in 46 games, with 10 penalties added on top of that. Hopefully that's something we can address both tactically and in terms of player quality going into next season.

https://i.gyazo.com/31eec781d95711789a11b83399d8b1a9.png

Wasn't all bad of course. Our front 4 delivered the goods with 75 goals between them, although most of that came down to our starting striker Ryan Seager. He's really not that good, but the tactic seems to suit him so long may he reign. Bobby-Joe Taylor also deserves a mention as our set-piece/penalty specialist as he came in clutch many a time.

As for next season, I'm not very optimistic I have to say. A lot of the dross will be leaving, but our wage budget is still very restrictive and I imagine we'll have troubles gathering a 20-man squad, let alone an actual good one. Oh well, that's the challenge I signed up for, so that's where you'll find me.

He says he wants to play CL football. I say if we don't qualify he can leave, no worries. He fucking loses his nut and now despises me. I'm top of the table, one defeat all season, 17 points ahead of 5th. I'll easily make CL.

Newcastle? 7th in the league and they got knocked out in the CL group stage.

Andre Wisdom is giving me nightmares. He's classed as a good League Two player and turns out every week for me in the Conference North like an absolute machine. But he won't discuss a contract cos he says we can't afford it. Problem is if we get promoted, we've no hope of staying up without him. But on the flipside, I'm not sure we have any chance of getting promoted next season (or ever again) without him. He's that good.

Really hoping we can somehow go up through the playoffs cos money is everything, and we have none. Gonna be a hard click of continue the day Andre Wisdom departs though. What a beast. Why's he even playing for Warrington. :D

1860 Munich 2025/26 Season Update:

Transfers Out:

Nothing too crazy this season. Ehmann was our number 1 keeper last year but he pissed me off by constantly getting injured.

Transfers In:

https://i.imgur.com/4kLUn2z.png

Plus a load more loans, obv.

https://i.imgur.com/XYCeBKx.png

£10.25k which was fuck all and I really like him. He has played a couple of games and done poorly but I think he could end up being mega.

https://i.imgur.com/guMIGh7.png

£10k and his value has shot up. He's been in the U19s all season and done alright there. I'm not all that keen on him so I think I'll sell him eventually for some fat profit.

https://i.imgur.com/EUTbn4N.png

£9.75k, I'm really not a fan of his physicals so not sure he'll be for me. Profit should be decent though.

https://i.imgur.com/QJvytjG.png

£5k and I like him a lot. I'll look to loan him out next season as I think some senior football will be huge for him.

https://i.imgur.com/WCj3h1W.png

£130k and I have tried to give him quite a few minutes and he's been a bit crap.

https://i.imgur.com/buG8AIc.png

Our new record transfer. IIRC I paid £500k up front with the rest in instalments. His value hasn't increased as much as I'd like but he's now wanted by some big teams so hopefully he either stays or a bidding war happens.

https://i.imgur.com/mTsjBqM.png

Freebie, not great but a decent backup option.

https://i.imgur.com/cCeM3ds.png

Our new keeper signed on a free and he's been great. A huge upgrade over our last keeper, he was even joint second in the league for clean sheets.

https://i.imgur.com/DaHXXXK.png

£50k and he's moaned a bit this year as he's a backup. I tried to sell him in January but no one was interested and since then he's calmed down.

The lowest we dropped to in the league was 16th so we were never fully in the relegation battle as we were always doing enough. The annoying thing was that we kept drawing/losing games that we dominated in xG:

https://i.imgur.com/5LHU5N4.png

Just look at that, 16 points fewer than our xPTS.

Struggled a lot in the first half of the season but we really did well in the second half.

Cup:

https://i.imgur.com/nBRP5W2.png

Only 1 cup game, annoying as we really could have won but oh well.

Squad:

https://i.imgur.com/6jnJVOT.png

I've already started selling some folks, Verlaat who will be missed said he wasn't interested in extending his contract which expires next year so I agreed to sell him and got £1.3m. Tin Matic (who I forgot to screenshot) hated me almost instantly but I couldn't sell him, now loads of teams have come in at his release clause of £235k.

I'd also like to sell Julen Jon Guerrero who hasn't progressed and I need a striker.

It's going to be gutting losing Estevao as he's developed so well on loan and became our best player, dude was unplayable in our last 10 games or so.

Second season at Dorking is done, so here's an update for you fine people. After a promising, if unspectacular, first season, things were looking grim going into the second one. With some players leaving the club after their contracts expired we went into the new summer transfer window with just 13 players in the first squad. The wage budget was exactly the same as last season so things were looking rough. And rough they were. A total of 5 players joined the club, with one of them being a loanee, and then we simply had no money left to even offer amateur contracts (the board wouldn't allow me to offer bonuses higher than 1 euro). Four of those five players went straight into the first team. Those signings, plus a player promoted from the academy out of necessity meant that we went into the season with 19 players, with 3 goalkeepers so something else would be needed for us to even stay at the same level as last season. And that something else was a tactical revamp. Or well, not so much a revamp but careful tweaks here and there. The efforts were largely focused at the defensive end. We finished last season as top scorers in the league with 113 goals, but conceded a ridiculous 82 goals, in what was in essence a relegation-level defence. A big part of that came from set-pieces, so different routines were introduced, with the rest of the tactical changes being mostly in terms of overall team mentality, with more pressing and a bit higher tempo being the main focus. Did those changes actually make an impact?

https://i.gyazo.com/f0b7e91dcafc70ab753c3d6215d30067.png

That they did. Our attack remained just as strong, scoring 125 goals, breaking the league record in the process. Our defensive record was also much better, but at 60 goals conceded I was still not happy with it. And it almost cost us. We spent almost the entire season in 1st place, even building a 9-point lead at some point, however we started conceding more and more goals and wins we would usually edge out turned to draws and draws turned to losses and that almost cost us. We were in fact losing the title until the last 20 minutes of the last game, when we scored the winner and Chesterfield conceded an equaliser (although their result wouldn't end up mattering since we had the superior goal difference). That they somehow managed to mess the playoffs up, losing 4-1 at home to Rochdale in the semis was quite the surprise to me. To be a bit more fair to my players, when you have as small a squad as we did, it was inevitable that we'd start dropping more points as the season went on.

We also made it to the third round of the FA Cup, after beating League Two outfits Accrington (2-1 at home) and Colchester (3-1 away), before understandably getting knocked out by Nottingham Forest (3-0 away). That resulted in a decent chunk of money coming our way, which essentially kept us afloat.

https://i.gyazo.com/ee166e6ee20a071396a6ebee2c541692.png

Cashman was our marquee signing of the season and one we didn't actually need, but he was too good to pass up. And since we indulged, I decided to adjust my tactics to him being better as a shadow striker and we benefitted massively from it, with him scoring 28 and assisting 10 (albeit some from the striker position when Seager was injured). Seager was just as good as last season, but ended up finishing the season with fewer goals this time around, courtesy of fewer games due to a 2-month injury, as well as the tactical tweaks that saw him "sharing" his goals with the rest of the attackers. Another player that has to be mentioned is Briggs. He was the best winger in the club, however the main reason I want to mention him is that he's been at Dorking since 2015, when they were playing in the 8th tier. Legend. Special mentions should also go to our loanee keeper that was a significant step up over the previous goalkeeper, as well as the backup striker who frequently got us out of sticky situations when Seager wasn't on his day.

So what's next? Obviously the goal is to survive League Two. It will be a hard task. Our wage budget has increased from 20k to 31k euros p/w, which would still only be the 6th highest wage budget in the National League, so a challenge awaits. Having beaten two League Two teams in the FA cup has led me to the decision to keep every player we already have and just build around that core. Sure some will lose their starter spot, but my aim is to still keep them at the club, have a healthy squad in terms of size this time around and give it our best shot.

Big transfer was Wamba who was useless for us so £6m plus 50% of his next sale was massive. I didn't really want to lose Verlaat as he was highly influential and solid but he wasn't going to sign a new contract. With our maiden season in League Two about to start, we had to significantly bolster our squad to have even a small chance of staying up. The goal was to avoid repeating last season's shenanigans where we only had about 16 players worth their salt. The first step to achieving that was to retain pretty much every player at our disposal so that we can have some reasonable depth. With money being extremely tight, the second step was to rely on our newly established link with Birmingham to get some free youngsters on loan. And the third step was to use whatever leftover money to increase the quality in our first XI. Thankfully we did very well in all three steps. When the transfer window was over, we had 8 players joining the club, all of which will eventually go on to be first-teamers. Three of them were loanees from Birmingham. A further 2 players joined us in January, in Tavares and another loanee. All in all, I was happy with our dealings and felt quietly confident about the upcoming season. Was this optimism justified?

https://i.gyazo.com/c2761f8ef88f4cb22e7765ffd479ced2.png

Well that was unexpected. We started the season playing rather good football, but only mustering 3 points in 6 games so I feared for the worst. But we got over our issues and soon went on a great run that saw us rise through the league quite rapidly. We went from 23rd to 3rd in less than 3 months and kept steady after that, only once dropping out of the automatic promotions for the remainder of the season. In fact, we had a quite comfortable 9-point lead over Mansfield at 4th with 5 games to go, but we proceeded to lose 3 of those to make things way tighter than they should have been. Still, we persisted and were rewarded for it. This league form was also replicated in the various cups, with us beating Cambridge (3-0 away) and Ipswich (2-2 at home, 10-9 on penalties), before bowing out to Luton (3-5 at home) in the League Cup, beating Rotherham (2-1 at home) before bizarrely losing to Eastleigh (2-3 away) in the FA Cup and gathering 5 points in our FA Trophy group but going out courtesy of 2 penalty loses. All in all, a fantastic season. Also let's all collectively laugh at Tranmere who spent more than half the season comfortably in second place before going through a 9-game spell that only saw them earning 2 points. They still made the playoffs where they won their first leg 2-0 against Rochdale before going on to lose 5-0 in the return leg. I would be fuming if that was my team.

https://i.gyazo.com/a70ee8e2344c091757e7f160613aa43f.png

Well the first thing to be said is that all 10 of our signings ended up in the first team, with just Cashman retaining his place. Our key signing was undoubtedly Sharman-Lowe who was a beast between the posts, but Ferdinand, Randall and Tavares were also quite amazing, with the latter joining in January and just bringing us to the next level. It has to be said that Seager did perform way above his level (Leading Vanarama North/South according to our coaches), scoring 20 goals in all competitions, but he was too inconsistent, which is why we signed Tavares. The two full-backs were mediocre at best, but it goes on to show how underwhelming our options in those positions were.

With League One football next season, another big transfer window awaits. We will have a lot more money this time around (50k p/w for wages, up from 30k this season), albeit way too little for League One standards. I expect that our all the non-loanees in the picture above will retain their positions, so we'll primarily look to bolster the full-back and midfielder positions. On top of that, it's time to say goodbye to a lot of the players that have been at the club since our National League days, which means that we will also have to sign players to add some squad depth. If I was to guess, I expect us to sign more than 10 players.

Yeah, Mansfield would have won the league in the previous two seasons with their 89 points. Pretty mental.

Also, it's quite obvious that if you were playing Rendon, you would be in Bundesliga already. Silly you.

Second season inexplicably didn't fall off a cliff but ended up getting even better

https://i.imgur.com/5Esk6cu.jpg

Somehow went the whole season unbeaten at the CBS and with that amount of goals scored and conceded you can't argue with value for money on the season ticket. Stoke did end up having the worst season in history with one of my worst results being a late equaliser to prevent them getting their first win of the season, although they did win two of their last four against teams already picking out sunglasses and something from the Richard and Judy book club.

Transfers wise I kept faith with a lot of the players who got us up in the first season while adding the following as generally regular starters: Scherpen (free), Kumbulla (free), Brekalo (£3m), Vrancx (£4m) and the fancy sounding Jakob Napoleon Romsaas for £2.7m who is already worth 15 times that and was swiftly tied down to a new contract.

Where I particularly didn't muck about was that prolific attack.

I started a lower league save last week due to getting jealous of folk on here as well. Truro City, got back to back to promotions but barely stayed up in League 2 in the 3rd season. 4th season hadn’t started much better up until December. Thankfully January isn’t too far away and have got Middlesbrough as an affiliate so hoping their loans will help a late promotion charge.

Someone I've wanted since he was 16 or so, he's not amazing but he's a tidy little freebie with good potential.

A hefty fee (most in instalments) but he's done really well when he's played.

Another expensive transfer, he hasn't played as much this year but I like his versatility and I do think he'll be big for us next year.

https://i.imgur.com/x58oTbf.png

I keep buying keepers (and i have another one coming in next season already) because my scouts keep finding them. He got some games in because my first choice keeper, who was great last year, had a shocking dip in form.

We keep playing really well (and we're always below our xPTS) but we go on really weird spells of form which see our attack go limp and our defence forget how to play football. If we could find a bit of consistency we would piss the league.

I really like this squad and we've got some cracking players (as you can see there are a lot fewer loanees) but we really need to improve our defence. With Ben Carroll being the only one I feel we can rely on. Also, big props to Rendon who told me he wanted to start games and he's been amazing since that talk.

As you can see there is a player who has a transfer arranged, here he is:

I didn't want to sell him but he was constantly moaning about moving and was exploring his options at the end of his contract. He's also a bit inconsistent for us and loves a card so I thought fuck him.

Managed to get £7.5m out of Dortmund (with a further £3m after 50 games) plus a 50% next sale clause. So I'm hoping he kicks on massively at Dortmund.

Mine’s got weightings but obviously they’re all subjective so you’re forever tweaking it chasing perfection and lose perspective of the game a bit eventually.

After shocking everyone (including ourselves) by gaining back to back promotions to League One, our work was cut out for us. We went into the new season with a squad that consisted of National League standard players with only a few exceptions and no significant amount of money to work with. Our wage budget was, as expected, the lowest in the league, with the second and third lowest having 25% and 50% more to spend on wages respectively. That meant that we had to do our usual wheeling and dealing, while squeezing every morsel of performance out of the players in our disposal. I must admit I went overboard, signing no fewer than 17 players, with some of them barely featuring in the end, including a couple that left in the very next transfer window. Given the level of players we were able to attract, I don't think there's any point in providing screenshots, but some name-dropping could do I guess. Our signings included Leicester academy products Tom Wilson-Brown and Ollie Norburn (sort of), ex-Leeds and West Brom star Alex Mowatt and Tottenham academy product Matthew Craig. In the end we gathered an ok squad, but one that I wouldn't be happy with in League Two, let alone League One. Sadly our reputation and wage budget prevented us from signing any proper players, but that's the cards we were dealt with and we had to make do.

https://i.gyazo.com/0c5fac49a3ae647fb794d5da7375c9af.png

The first few games proved my fears as we were heavily outplayed and the only point we managed to get in the first three games was down to chance. Something clicked however and we started picking up results, while often being outplayed, eventually going on an impressive 12-game unbeaten run, picking up 26 points in the process. That run practically ensured that we would avoid relegation, but on top of that it actually brought us into the playoff spots. Once this run was over our results were a bit more hit and miss, but we did just enough to unexpectedly retain a place in the playoffs. It has to be said though, that we stole a lot wins out of nowhere, with the xPoints table (I know, I know) indicating that we should have finished the season at 14th instead of 5th. I don't think I've ever had that before, but there we go. Once in the playoffs I knew we didn't really stand a chance as all three teams outplayed us during the season, but we eventually held up our own against Wrexham, even if we ended up losing 5-3 on aggregate. Nevertheless, a massive performance, coupled with solid, if unimpressive runs in the various cups.

https://i.gyazo.com/7107d7a86ac8fbfd0ebbaa9b7599ffec.png

The average ratings across the squad tell the full story really. We weren't that good, we just developed a knack of securing undeserved wins. One would look at Tavares for our star player, but as you can see from his average rating, he was extremely inconsistent, even if he still managed to bag 29 goals, finishing second in the league. The real star of the squad is undoubtedly Seb Ferdinand, who was consistently good, saving our asses on many an occasion. Our signing of the season was undoubtedly Wilson-Brown contributing to an incredible amount of goals for a defender, even if primarily (but not exclusively) from set-pieces. Sharman-Lowe was also a beast once again, albeit he has proven to be a bit injury-prone as he missed 13 games through multiple injuries. He's also kicked up a fuss about wanting to leave, so I won't be surprised if we end up replacing him soon.

With all that said, another season in League One awaits. The bad news is that the board doesn't seem to believe in us, not increasing our wage budget at all and only giving us 150k to spend on transfers. Given that we've had more than 500k in the bank throughout the season, that's a bit disappointing. It also means we'll be in this league for a while really, but that was to be expected. Oh well, upwards and onwards.

Sucks to lose Uzelac as I think he could be mega but he was inconsistent for us so getting £7.5m plus 50% of next sale (and a friendly) isn't too bad. Hamdi was produced by us and I'm not overly keen on him so was fine cashing in. Hasa has been a hugely important member of the team since signing on loan (and then a free) but he was starting to fall out of favour and he was desperate to go. We are also owed 30% of any profit.

I paid £5k for Oier and I really liked him although he never played for the first team. £7.5m was huge for him though. Jan was my 3rd/4th or 5th choice keeper and he wanted to go, I paid £10.25k for him so big profit plus 50% of next sale. Vazquez is someone I expected big things from when I paid £3m for him but he just never felt good enough and he was always moaning, I tried to get rid of him a few times before but this season he went. Kurt played a lot for us in the 3rd league and our first season of the second but he was now 3rd or 4th choice and his contract was expiring. Azizi is a 17 year old Iranian who was produced by us, his contract was expiring and he chose Hoffenheim over us and that was the compensation.

We owe Fulham another £10m if we win the DFB Pokal in the next 3 years, so hopefully we never win it (I will throw the final if we get there). He's got some holes in his game but I like him, played quite a bit near the end of the season and did well.

Noel is someone I've been chasing for a couple of years, I think he could be mustard and I was finally able to land him. Think he could be tidy.

We don't really have CB's (or RB's at the club) who aren't on loan so I wanted this lad. Big, can jump but has a decent amount of pace about him.

This lad is my favourite of the bunch. I want to train him as CM to get him really involved. He is training exceptionally well (seems to only put in 9s or higher) and has done fairly well when I've played him.

Despite having the most goals in a league season we didn't have a crazy top scorer. Our best was 12 (shard between the two strikers I rotate) because the goals were spread around the team. Had the title sewn up with 4 games to go and the youth got some nice minutes.

It's going to suck losing him as he was so deadly at corners (he's 6 foot 5 with 19 jumping) but he drove up the pitch so well as a Mezzala.

Originally loaned out Rendon but called him back in January as our two main strikers (Scrivener and Zabec) were missing a lot of chances and he did really well.

Another season down at Lazio following our title win the year before and it was eventful.

Going into the Summer Transfer window I was happy to just keep the band together, but the game had other ideas. 3 of my first team players- Huriez, D'Agostino and Briz Castillo were seriously unsettled following premier league interest. While I was able to get 2 of them to stay in the end, Castillo just wasn't having it and he eventually departed for Man City for £36.5m which could rise to £42m, not bad considering we signed him for £7m 18 months ago. Malacia was released due to being too much money for his age and Schlotterbeck was sold off for £3m after getting homesick but then randomly choosing Wolves over a return to Germany..... alright mate. Janne Hamalainen who had been our back up LB/LW was also sold when Atletico offered us £16.5m for him which was frankly too much for the role he played. On deadline day Karalyvari threw his toys out the pram and was sold to Napoli for £8m. While all these were good deals, I did take my eye off the ball a little, and not realise just how many defenders we had let go....

Transfers in were more low key than the outs. We signed Frederic Andrey, a young Defensive Midfielder for £14.25m from Caen and immediately loaned him out to Sunderland. We also completed the £12m signing of wonderkid Keeper Dario from Espanyol but I didn't realise I had still included a loan back so he went back there on loan. To offset losing him we signed Norway's keeper Simon Nokolaisen from Dortmund for £1.7m to warm the bench. We also bought in a young promising winder, Mouhamed Ndao from Atalanta for £3.6m and Alexis MacAllister who was released from Napoli joined us on a free.

It was only after deadline day that I realised just how badly I'd fucked up. We had 6 first team defenders on the books.... and we played a back 4. To make matters worse, 1 of the other 2 was our first choice at DM. This meant we had 1 player to fill in for 5 first team spots. Oops. I got to work trying to solve it but the rules being what they are meant that no matter what I did (free transfer, loan etc) no one new could join us until January. Surprisingly this didn't bite us on the arse as hard as I expected as we, for the most part, avoided injuries and were able to soldier through. When the transfer window opened, we immediately signed:

Caio Henrique- a verteran I signed on a free hoping I could register him to play before January.... I could not. He ended up not playing and leaving at the end of the season.
Gabriel Fernando- A Brazilian CM/RW who was released by Mineiro but seemed good enough to play a role for us. He was my first back up at CM and did well enough.
Betinho- my favourite signing of the window for £12m from Palmeiras. Unfortunately, we fell victim again to the non-EU rules and couldn't play him. He was therefore loaned out to Hertha.
Andreu Crusat- A young defender who joined on loan from Barcelona, featured a little.
Moises- a promising winder from Napoli for £5m who barely featured as he's not ready.
Alfred- A young defender from Las Palmas for £8m. He again featured a bit as our first reseve whenever a defender needed a rest.
Pedro Suarez- Another youngster, this one a DMC who played again as a first reserve.
Rusembergue- Young Brazilian fullback from Fluminense for £5.75m who was loaned to our feeder club as he's nowhere near ready.

This gave us the depth we needed to not struggle as much in the 2nd half of the season. Towards the end of the window we added Jose Rodriquez, a decent looking Uruguayan wonderkid who was available on a free and all of Europe were in for him. We actually did sign and register him but I wanted him to play more so he was loaned out to PSV. We then added Edemar, a wonderkid I noticed a couple of years ago who ended up going to Spurs but they were selling for a cut price fee of £14m. I couldn't register him so out he went on loan to Schalke.

The starting line up ended up being:

GK: Huriez- been in the job 3 years but will probably be moved on as he constantly asks to leave and Dario will be back from his loan spells.
LB: Mario Napoletano- His 2nd year as our starter, very solid player but 31 years old now.
CB: Same pairing as last season, Cazzaniga and D'Agostino. I thought we might lost D'Ago but luckily we didn't.
RB: Pascal Ludovic who we loaned out last season. Not as good as Castillo we lost, but solid enough.
DMC: Pedro Henrique- Still looking to upgrade on him, may well be able to when Andrey returns from Sunderland.
MC- Zeng Xianglong- still amazing, still can't believe he was free.
LW and RW are still Martino and Romero as always.
ST- Ghillarducci is the most important player at the club, but Hatton, despite being the top scorer in Europe 2 years running, dropped to the bench with Karaman taking his spot.

The season quickly turned into a 2 horse race between us and Inter Milan for the title. We had a bit of Champions League hangover that saw us drop points early on especially with our small squad making rotation impossible. We also nearly got knocked out in the group phase, but a couple of wins towards the end snuck us through. The 2nd half of the season once the new players came in we improved a lot and built up a 4 point lead over Inter, although that disappeared when we got hammered 4-1 by AC Milan. Inter weren't as dominant as usual though so we were able to stay above them and when we beat them 2-0 with 3 games to go, it all but killed off their title challenge. Our penultimate game with Sampdoria was then delayed until after the "final day", and on said "final day" we wrapped up the title by beating Pisa 3-0. Inter actually lose to AC, though it didn't matter as we won. We then won the delayed game as well, though the title was already done.

Lazio- 92
Inter- 85
Genoa- 77
Juventus- 71
- - - - -
Roma- 70
Napoli- 63
Milan- 62

So for the second year running we end up with 92 points, but this time the title was much more comfortable.

In the Champions League we went on a great run. Despite stuttering through the group phase and into the Play Off we beat Sociedad 5-2 (4-0 at home, 1-2 away) to advance to the round of 16. We then beat Arsenal 6-3 (3-1 at home, 3-2 away) and Liverpool 8-2 (5-1 at home, 3-1 away) to make the Semi Finals for the 2nd time in 3 seasons to face Bayern Munich. Much like last time though.... we were nowhere near. We once again drew 2-2 in our home game, but lost the 2nd leg 4-1.

All told, another successful season, and the squad is only getting stronger. Karaman was a revelation up front, bagging 50 goals in 43 (11) games. Ghillarducci's goal totals dropped off massively playing behind him as he only managed 19 goals (Luka Romero had 24) but it was worth it to get so many out of Karaman. Taylor Hatton chipped in with 17 in 34 (17) games but he did score 2 goals including one in the 88th minute to help us beat Juventus 3-2 in a vital game at the end of the season and then both goals when we beat Inter. He was rewarded by FINALLY getting called up by Mourinho's England and is going to the World Cup.

Stopped updating this thread but carried on playing this Lazio game on FM23 and a couple of nights ago had probably my favourite ending to a season ever.

2 in games years ago I started getting headlines about Haaland being on the move from City. Seeing as we kept getting dumped out of the CL by 35+ year old players who were still elite (Vinicius, Bellingham etc) this gave me the chance to get one of my own and we signed him for a pathetic £5m given his age. He was 36 and looking to retire at the end of the season. He came in as our first back up striker and netted 4 goals in 7 (14) league games but was more impressive in the CL where he scored in our 2-2 aggregate draws with Liverpool and Hertha, both of which we advanced past on penalties. The Semi Finals once again proved our undoing as after a 0-0 with City at home, even starting Haaland against his old team couldn't help us as we lost 5-2 at the Etihad (although to be fair we were the better side until very late on when we chased the game too much). Haaland also has success in the Italian Cup Final where he scored 2 and created 2 in a 4-0 win as we sealed the domestic treble and our 6th Serie A title in a row. I also managed to talk him out of retirement and get him for one more year....

And how vital that would prove. In his final year he managed 7 goals in 4 (18) league games which didn't really matter (although we did set all kinds of league records and only dropped points twice all season) but the Champions League was his time to shine again. After taking just 4 points from our opening 4 games and looking in trouble we stormed the 2nd half of the group phase to narrowly finish 9th and miss out on the bye. Roma awaited in the Play Offs where Haaland opened the scoring in the "away" leg and we ultimately cruised through 7-1 on aggregate. He would score one more as we dismantled Hertha 7-3 showing how much we'd improved since last year. AC Milan in the quarters was similarly uneventful as we knew we were easily the best team in Italy and battered them 6-2. Then it was the Semi Finals where we had fallen 6 times in the last 7 years and had never got beyond in in the team's history. We had a massive injury crisis up front leaving Haaland and a guy named Bartomeu who I did not trust at all as our only 2 fit strikers. We edged out PSG 1-0 at home with winger Trapero scoring the only goal, and then went to Paris and quickly fell 2-0 down. I feared the worst but a goal from Haaland on the hour levelled the tie on aggregate and it would be decided on penalties where old man Gavi was the only one to miss and we finally, FINALLY made it to a final. It would be the last game of Haaland's career and of course..... it was Man City.

I debated so long and hard over whether Haaland started the final or not. On the one hand, he was Mr Champions League for us. On the other hand.... Karaman, our main striker, had 56 goals on the season. Karaman was also coming back from injury and hadn't looked great in our last 3 league games either so there was half a temptation to push him out onto the right (where he had played most of his Lazio career until the last 2 years) to accommodate Haaland. In the end though, pushing out a 56 goal striker just made no sense and so Haaland started on the bench, but I decided before the game if we ever fell behind he was coming on and I was changing formation to the one that had almost got us back into the game against City the previous year after we had fallen 2-0 down early on. In the final this time around it looked like a similar story when a horrific defensive error on 10 minutes lead to City taking the lead. Haag, our RB, who was not the one to blame for the goal, was hauled off immediately after just 10 minutes and Haaland was introduced. It took only 7 minutes for Haaland to equalise from the penalty spot. Krajewski, an elite striker who had started alongside Karaman but dropped back to number 10 once Haaland came on then picked up the ball and scored a wonder strike on 28 minutes before Haaland whipped a free kick onto the head of Cazzaniga (our only good youth team prospect in my 10 years managing the team...) who headed us 3-1 up. At that point, Trapero was sacrificed for a new RB as we went back to our old system and pushed Karaman out wide to leave Haaland up front and drop back but goals from former Balon D'or winner Ghillarducci (42 mins) and Karaman from the right (45 mins) sent us in at HT 5-1 up. Literally nothing happened in the 2nd half which suited me fine. I've probably never made that many tactical moves in one game in my FM career and what an outcome it was. Haaland

He has now retired, and is a shit Assistant Manager. Really and truly I should leave Lazio now and try and fix the fact that Spurs have won the last 3 Premier Leagues but... I'm level with Trappatoni on 7 Serie A titles so..... 1 more?

1860 Munich 2030/31 Season Update:

Transfers Out:

https://i.imgur.com/X3rjPRx.png

Here are the main two sales:

https://i.imgur.com/i9Y1CLT.png

Signed on a free but he never really progressed well enough and every Summer since he's been here he's fallen further down the pecking order due to new signings. Can't believe I got £15m for him. Although he's done alright in the second division this season tbf.

https://i.imgur.com/8PodYH3.png

Carroll was one of my most important players for many years. I signed him in 2026/27 for £5.25m and loaned him out to Northampton, when he came back he was our starting LB and, for one season, our starting AML. He was moaning a lot about getting sold last season as well as this so I decided to let him go (I had a replacement lined up) and got a bidding war between City and Liverpool going. City won it with £50m plus 50% of next sale. Weirdly he's only started 6 games for them this season whilst coming off the bench 9 times.

Transfers In:

https://i.imgur.com/90qsJJL.png

I think this was our best recruitment season so far:

https://i.imgur.com/xtl9oJJ.png

£2.9k and I think he could be World Class. Gave him 8 games for the senior side and he conceded a lot of goals but I could see he's got a lot of talent as he pulled out some great saves.

https://i.imgur.com/evtC0xl.png

Managed to get him on a free and I reckon he could be a deadly finisher in his prime. Will look to loan him out again this season.

https://i.imgur.com/xHJlqwY.png

Don't play with an AMC so he's been used mainly as an AML on IF. His technicals aren't amazing but he's got mad potential apparently, will be out on loan a lot I feel.

https://i.imgur.com/cZqJKJp.png

£3.5m is an absolute bargain for this lad who looks mustard already. Can't wait to see how he develops.

https://i.imgur.com/HUDzpE0.png

Not sure why he thinks he's a RB, he's a CB.

https://i.imgur.com/zq5msm5.png

Not happy with his lack of consistency but I really like him outside of that.

https://i.imgur.com/tGQu3id.png

Here is my LB replacement. He was on loan with us in 28/29 (which is why Carroll played at AML a lot in that season) and he has progressed really well since. £14m is a steal and he's better than Carroll in all areas bar speed. I feel like I've absolutely mugged off City with this.

https://i.imgur.com/fSUoGVq.png

Correia is someone I've been wanting for years now but we never had the cash. So I had to sign him this year and I love him. Both footed, consistent and can finish anything. I've been playing him mostly as an AML on IF which suits him well.

https://i.imgur.com/5WiaNz0.png

I really like this kid and I think the deal was a steal. He went on loan to Gladbach for the first half of the season but they weren't playing him enough and he was upset. Sadly I forgot he had played for Atalanta this season (along with Gladbach) so I couldn't use him, had I remembered I'd have left him where he was.

https://i.imgur.com/dFgK8Y9.png

Lad needs a bath and I doubt he'll ever make it for us. Was bought for profit.

https://i.imgur.com/5r1qV92.png

Absolute mountain of a man (boy), although he looks a little too much like a lumbering oaf so probably wont make it for us.

https://i.imgur.com/aR02lP6.png

Kept him out on loan and the club I bought him from as he wouldn't get game time for us and I knew he would for them. If his physicals were better he would be insane.

https://i.imgur.com/55CRL7C.png

I had been chasing him for years and he had been transfer listed since we first went in for him but his original club were dicks and wouldn't let him leave on an instalment deal. Finally I was able to bring him in. Consistency is a worry but he's done really well on loan to Fiorentina and we need a backup AMR.

League:

Bayern's streak is over (they had won it every year on my save plus however many they had won on the bounce prior) and we did it in style. Bayern lost Tuchel in the Summer to PSG and his replacement, Arteta, was shit especially in the first half of the season. Us on the other hand, were machines and we kept putting out result after result. We could have won it a bit earlier but I kept putting out the kids when a European game was round the corner (which is why we lost those 3 near the end).

DFB Pokal:

https://i.imgur.com/3XZuVgb.png

Board weren't happy but the Gladbach game was right between some important games and the first 11 were shattered.

Europa League:

https://i.imgur.com/Je5wSSu.png

We were brilliant and the first 11 only lost 1 game, although that just happened to be the most important. Such a shame we couldn't bring the trophy home but I'm happy.

We were FM'd in the final though:

https://i.imgur.com/sL3Funv.png

Rendon who had been on fire all season just didn't turn up today.

Squad:

https://i.imgur.com/ft5N1I3.png

Have to give props to Scrivener, he moaned during the first half of the season about not playing (Rendon was too good) and I tried to sell him in January but he turned down a £55m + 50% next sale move to Fulham. I then decided to play him at CM and he's been absolute class. Still not overly enamoured by my sub options but it is getting better.

Plan is to win the CL and then I'll move on to my next save I feel.

I've decided to go for a Youth Academy challenge - no transfers in of any kind from the moment I take control of the club. To make things more challenging, the idea is to holiday for a season and assume control of one of the newly promoted clubs to the bottom tier of whatever country you choose to manage in. That way, you're presented with a threadbare squad of questionable quality and surviving until the first youth intake isn't particularly likely. I decided to stick with England for whatever reason, so at the start of the 2024/25 season, I took charge of Folkestone Invicta, newly promoted to the National League South.

A squad of 16 awaited me - within 2 days, that was immediately down to 14 as two players were snapped up off of their non-contract deals. Greyed-out players can be used in this challenge but only when completely necessary, and their stats are so bad it's not worth it anyway.

https://i.ibb.co/QbTGHn5/start.png

The start was somewhat of a false hope - our 6-0 hammering of Chippenham had me questioning whether it was even going to be a challenge at all. The starting 11 is actually fairly good with a strong selection of strikers and wingers. But once the season got going, the fatigue and injuries hit hard and it's been tough sledding since.

Our goalkeeper tore his wrist ligaments in the 5-2 loss at Worthing, so he was replaced with a grey shitter for a month. Our left-back is currently out injured with a torn hamstring - this now means a veteran centre-back is filling in and gradually getting more annoyed at being played out of position. Ibrahim Olutade, a good striker for this level, refused to sign a deal with us, choosing to leave on a free midway through September. And arguably our best player of the lot, Andre Coker, has just broken his ankle and is out for 5 months. We did manage to scramble a draw despite bringing on a 16 year old centre-back to play on the right wing in his place. :D

Despite the awful run, I'm actually really enjoying it. There's not too much to worry about - the team picks itself, I don't need to scout anybody, I just need to somehow hold on and stay up. We're currently 2 points adrift, but we play bottom of the table Basingstoke Town next.

Defence continues to be leaky at Folkestone. We did manage to win the crunch match against bottom of the table Basingstoke Town, holding on for a 3-2 win. We battled hard against professionals Maidstone Town but ultimately lost 3-2, before a hard-fought 2-2 draw at home to Bath City.

Our next game almost saw us pull off the quintessential 'fm'ing'....

Last time I updated on my save was a while back and I was complaining about how the board won't give me more money to spend, pointing to our "poor finances", even though the club was quite healthy and every season we were making more and more money. This, coupled with my interesting in some other games, led me to dropping the game for a while, but recent internet issues prevented me from playing said games so back to fm24 I went. As a brief reminder, the situation at the club is as follows: After gaining an unexpected promotion to League One, I thought we would instantly be relegated again, but somehow had a great season, finishing fifth in the league, but losing in the playoff semis. We massively overperformed our stats, as the all-important xPts table had us finishing something like 13-14th. After such a solid first season, I thought we would have strong basis to build upon but my board disagreed. We would have the exact same wage budget and no transfer budget whatsoever. The issue was further exacerbated when we lost our star keep for 500k (his release clause), yet I was only given 100k to spend. I might add that at this point we had 2 million in the bank and the experience of last season, where we only lost 1m during the course of the year (before recouping more than that from prize fees and the likes). So definitely had enough money to spend, the board are just a-grade assholes. Oh well. What all that meant was that our squad ended up being worse than last season, as we only really managed to improve our depth in terms of quality. So I was bracing for a rough season, although I still thought we had enough about us to not be involved in a relegation battle.

https://i.gyazo.com/da8b139e3e32bcff74678a076cfdf0e7.png

:cheer:

I didn't expect us to do that good. And unlike last season where we sort of chanced our way to a playoff spot, this time we were proper good. We gave everyone a run for their money and we even had a great chance of finishing 2nd, but we (somewhat inexplicably) lost our penultimate game against relegation fodder at home. In the end it didn't matter as we breezed past Milwall (4-1 on aggregate) in the semis, on the way to our first Wembley trip where we would be facing Colchester. During the regular season we had both won our home games against each other so everything was up for grabs in terms of previous results. It was a tense game and although the stats would argue that Colchester should have won, I actually thought we were the better team. We took the lead twice, with them equalising both times through set-pieces, but a late goal from Randall gave them no room to respond and the rest was history. Once again our defense was shaky (part of that is due to my tactical approach, but a big part also came down to a massive downgrade on the goalkeeper position), but we made up for it offensively, finishing the season as joint top scorers. We also did pretty good in the FA Cup, making it to the third round, where we were drawn away at Leicester. The first game was a goalless draw that we should probably have edged, but the return game was a real spectacle. We went two goals down twice, but found a response, sending the game to extra time with a 90th minute equaliser. Two more goals were scored there, but it was one each, which meant after 120 minutes played the score was 4-4 and it would all be down to the lottery of penalties. Sadly we weren't as accurate as them, but it was a great performance so I can't really complain.

https://i.gyazo.com/a9931d9ddecbe8d02ab6bb40d815c4ab.png

Let me start from Luca Blake. Luca fucking Blake. For those feeling bad about not knowing who that is, don't, he is a newgen. We purely signed him because he was available and our scouts reckoned he had a lot of potential. They also reckoned he his current ability was at 1.5 stars so he wasn't expected to get any playing time. A few injuries later meant that he would actually be playing, but not even in his favorite position (played as a 10 behind our main striker). Well he grabbed a brace in his debut. Two games later he scored again, as he also did in the following two games. And all of a sudden he went from a nobody to being the first name on our team sheet. 9 months later, he has finished with the highest average rating in the squad with the most player of the match awards, and his current ability is at 3.5 stars. Pretty mental if you ask me. The other two people that stand out are Tavares and Hayder. The former essentially repeated his performances from last season, where he scored a fuckton of goals (finished top of the league in fact), while being wildly inconsistent. The latter was a bit of a panic signing (on loan from Stoke), to add some depth and while he really struggled in the first half of the season, he found his own after a while and was instrumental in some of our wins. The last person I would like to focus on is Seb Ferdinand who went from being our top player for two seasons in a row to being largely anonymous this season and I can't say I understand why. The only reason he played that many games is that our alternatives weren't any better.

So we somehow managed to make it to the Championship. I know I always say that when we gain promotion, but this time it's almost a certainty in my mind: we are getting relegated immediately. How can I be so sure? Well our squad largely consists of League Two quality players, our reputation means that I fully expect us to have players reject us for the likes of Carlisle or Fleetwood and to top all of that, we only have 82k p/w to spend on wages. While that's a decent 45%-ish increase on our current wage budget, it's still less than half the currently lowest wage budget in the Championship. On the bright side, we do have 2.5m to spend on transfers, but I do expect a big chunk of that to be converted to wages.

I am also in a bit of a dilemma. Tavares will be leaving in the summer if we don't renew his contract. I know I've said he's inconsistent, but the truth of the matter is that he has scored 76 goals in 2.5 seasons for us. The problem is he is asking for mad money, and I'm talking MAD money. His current wage is sitting at 2.2k p/w, one of the highest in the club in fact, and he's asking for 9k. Obviously I'm heavily leaning towards telling him to fuck off (that's one ninth of our wage budget for crying out loud), but it's still quite the difficult decision.

Also depends on what type of save you generally like. I'm very fond of Journeyman saves for example, so that's my usual suggestion, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.

On a different note:

I think we might be fine:

I'm actually really satisfied with the squad we've actually ended up with (even though as always good defenders were really hard to come by).

First season I went out in the playoff semis having married a ridiculous attack with an almost as ridiculous defence

Just finished our first season in the Championship. As I mentioned in the previous update I was quite pessimistic going into the season as our squad was barely even League One standard to begin with and our budgets were less than half those of any other team in the league. Still with a lot of wheeling and dealing, we managed to assemble a squad that I was generally happy with, even if there were still glaring gaps that we couldn't fill. I won't go into much detail on the players we brought but among the 12 players that joined the club, Luke Cundle of Wolves' fame and former Nottingham Forest striker Dale Taylor were the most recognizable. Generally we mostly signed players that were already playing in the Championship which was quite encouraging.

https://i.gyazo.com/bec5a10ead4120760c3af6c30ef61556.png

The improvement of the squad was evident in terms of results. We didn't set the world alight or anything, but we were solid and outside some exceptions (7-2 and 5-1 losses to Southampton and West Brom respectively spring to mind) we more than held our own. Even though it became obvious that we weren't going to be in the relegation battle, I definitely didn't expect us to finish 9th. Our cup runs were nothing to write about, as we beat Bolton and Sheffield United between getting (narrowly mind you) eliminated by Crystal Palace in the League Cup, while we fell at the very first hurdle in the FA Cup, losing to Barnsley at home in the third round.

Nobody really that stands out, but a lot of people contributing to a great season. Obviously Wilson-Brown has to be mentioned as he's the only one with average rating above 7, but that's typical for defenders that score from set-pieces. Still his goals got us out of some awkward situations and he was generally solid defensively as well. Our main problem (apart from the full-backs which I just can't get right but at this point, with our success, I'm wary of changing things tactics-wise) was the striker. Tavares wanted mad money (which we ended up paying his replacement anyway, so maybe he was right), and I thought with Curdle joining, he could play behind the striker and Blake could play at the top, which is his natural position anyway. With that not working for the first few games I decided to go for another striker. Dale Taylor came in, but he was underwhelming (scored 6 goals this season), so we ended up mostly playing Ballard who was just as bad. That said, the rest of the team picked up the slack, so it never really quite felt that we were struggling for goals.

The board are essentially giving me no money for next season (same wage budget and 1.5m for transfers). I would usually bitch and moan about their lack of ambition, but they've decided to build a new stadium, which we desperately need, seeing as our current one has a massive 5.600 capacity and they've also agreed to improve our facilities and networking across the board. The good thing is that we'll only be losing a few peripheral (at best) players, so we could essentially make no transfers and still be in a decent position for next season. The name of the game is for us to survive in the championship for a few more years so we build our profile and finances up, and our current squad seems to be more than capable of doing it. I will look at potential solutions at the front, but, other than that and a few squad depth signings, I'm not quite excepting many changes.

After a surprisingly strong first season in the Championship, the name of the game was to have more of the same while slowly but steadily improving our squad and our finances. With very few people leaving us in the summer, I wasn't expecting big changes. Those plans changed somewhat, as Burnley came knocking for Luca Blake (https://i.gyazo.com/1cfe9197216134f66f16705039edb264.png). I told them I wouldn't settle for anything less than 7.5m, they came back with 500k, I said "fuck off, I want 10m now", so what did they do? They gave us 10m and offered to loan him back to us for the season on their own accord. Well that's not something you say no to, even if Blake has been our best player for two seasons straight. So I took the money and ran. We only signed 3 first team players in the summer, David Watson (https://i.gyazo.com/db8a3aac45d41501b39a80ad3243743d.png) from Kilmarnock and Sebastian Hausner (https://i.gyazo.com/1f034a6f6b7ec9caf6848efb6b527c90.png) from Sunderlandm both on a free, as well as Dennis Kunze (https://i.gyazo.com/75096e1560aa1bd9d4c246f036b5d238.png), a newgen from Eintracht, who cost us 4.5m, with about half of it spread over 3 seasons. It was a risky move, but he came with tons of potential so I thought that at the very least we'll be able to make some profit even if he doesn't perform well. More players joined in January, but only two of them (both newgens) would be starting for us, Kemal Osmanovic (https://i.gyazo.com/98f1e3050ec234b0e99a4ab645a4551f.png) from Hajduk for 1.8m and Jesús Peña (https://i.gyazo.com/7dfeb14be6d4d70ee5bffb2b5086b092.png) from Caracas for 800k. Those transfers, along with the various youngsters and squad players we also signed meant that we ended up with a solid squad, albeit still not necessarily a Championship level one.

We started well and basically repeated last season's form but there was something in the way we played that always left me wanting for more. A lot of the goals we conceded came from our own shitty passes and our attacking generally felt somewhat unorthodox at times, so with 9 games to go and us on course for a midtable/top half finish, I thought I might as well experiment a bit. The main changes were switching from a more direct style to shorter passes, abandoning my beloved "pass into space" instruction and ensuring that our backline took little to no risks when passing the ball. This had an immediate effect and we went on an 8-game unbeaten run, with 5 wins and 3 draws, which led to this:

https://i.gyazo.com/4a69eef164ed8f6098363cf99477845d.png

With one game left in the season, pretty much everything was up for grabs. We were playing 14th-place Reading away, and with our form we really were in control of our own destiny. But then we just played bad and lost. Thankfully Barnsley and Brentford also did so we still managed to make the playoffs. There we met with Sheffield United and even though I'd argue we were slightly better than them over two legs, they beat us 4-2 on aggregate, courtesy of their better players really. Still, another great season with an ending that fills me with hope for next season.

As you can see we really really struggled with goalscorers. The only player to hit double digits was Dom Ballard, who was our main striker until January, with 11, and Blake also grabbed 9 goals so we at least had a plurality of scorers, but you really need someone to lead the line and we had none. I had hoped Osmanovic would fill that void but sadly it wasn't to be. In fairness to him, he initally started with 7 goals in 6 games but my pc crashed and on replay he only scored one goal in his first 10 games or so. He did benefit from our tactical changes, grabbing 6 goals in 11 games, but even so he was inconsistent. I am going to give him another opportunity next season so hopefully he reaches the level that his stats suggest he should be playing at. Kunze was also very mediocre, if not downright bad. When I signed him he insisted that I bring someone else to help him settle (I always found that thing a bit unrealistic, but FM seems to love it) and the couple I tried to sign that would fit our squad didn't want to join, so he threw a hissy fit. I am looking at one of them to hopefully join us this season, so we'll see if that changes things.

My board are once again very stingy with money. They've given me the exact same wage budget plus 1m for transfers. I also have the common issue of our reputation going up way too slowly (we're still predicted to finish 24th, after having finished 9th and 6th), so I keep losing players to practically lower teams, for lower money even. So yeah, it was nice that we fluked our way to the Championship faster than I expected, but from here on out it will be a case of slowly but steadily raising our profile, before making a charge for promotion I think.

What's your overall budget? The issue with goalkeepers that have such low current ability is that if you don't manage to loan them out, they end up never reaching their potential.

So when Baz did the Club TTH stuff last time out, I got to simming it all to see how it went a few different times. To see if say, one set of attributes always ended up doing well and one always ended up doing badly.

And you are correct. The years of 18-21 are vital in development. This applies to keepers too. You really need first team football in this time. By the looks of his mentals, he hasn't had much, if anything of that and he'll be 21 before you get to play a competitive game with him next season Mike

There's a chance he gets up to most of that potential, but once players hit over 21, the rate of them getting better slows down massively. Besides, compare him to your current number 1. Not even close. If he were 18 I'd say go for it, but not this time. There's surely a better option available.

Having been promoted with new all-time Championship records for points, wins and goals scored I'm largely sticking with my first team, complementing them with James Trafford for £750k and the following, all signed as squad players

Not only avoided going too mad with transfers but have somehow made £30m by shifting reserve players inferior to those I've brought in in Brad Collins (£4.2m), Oli McBurnie (£10m) and Tarique Fosu (£17m). Could all backfire and I quickly realise I've just kept a very Championship team together

I always say I'll do that when I enter a new division but can never resist all the juicy opportunities for wheeling and dealing. It is a risk you took (though not very big given you dominated the season), but even if it backfires it will work wonders finance-wise so it might even benefit you in the long term.

Celebrated this goal (https://streamable.com/a48p00)like it was a real life match, pulling the game back to 2-2 and keeping us in the European places, only to conceed a 95th minute goal to throw away the game. Last game of the season when I play tomorrow, need results to go our way to get into Europe now.
